Hehehe. I read through your review (and no, I haven't read Walden), and kept thinking, "Oh, this reminds me of Seneca!". An Aussie friend of mine typically sends me - every year for Christmas - books. His tastes are eclectic, but one year he sent me a publication of Seneca's writings. That actually became great bedside reading for me - I'd read one page, and I'd fall asleep! :-)
Thanks for the heads-up! Seneca is the source of one of my all time favourite quotes, but now I know to leave him as just that - the author of a quote I like. :)
